Known for his pyrotechnic charm and fearless culinary spirit, Ted Reader is an award-winning chef, author and food entertainer. He’s written over twenty-one cook books including Napoleon’s Everyday Gourmet Grilling, Napoleon’s Everyday Gourmet Plank Grilling, and Napoleon’s Everyday Gourmet Burgers which all took home the Gourmand World Cookbook Award for Best Barbecue Book. Others include Beerlicious: The Art of Grillin’ and Chillin’, the Complete Idiots Guide to Smoking Foods and most recently Gastro Grilling.
Ted’s classic culinary training at the George Brown College Chef School in Toronto paved the way to his dynamic career today. He has cooked for people of all walks of life from swanky ballroom affairs to NFL tailgating parties to summer festivals. But no matter the venue, Ted’s true quest in life is to create “real food for real people’.
Ted’s line of World Famous BBQ products, his catering company and teaching keep him pretty busy but he always finds time to share his culinary experiences with others.
Ted’s passion for all things smoked and grilled is extremely contagious, to say the least. You’ll often find him spreading the gospel of BBQ at live cooking demonstrations, TV appearances and on the radio to audiences that inevitably end up salivating for more. So it’s no surprise that the dude loves to cook!
Today, he owns more than 100 barbecues, grills and smokers of all different shapes and sizes, and he never leaves home without one in the back of his truck! You can usually find Ted in his backyard of his Toronto home, where he lives with his wife and two kids. He has created himself a nice ‘man-cave’ back there, where he can tinker with his toys and come up with wacky and delicious recipes he’s known for!
